2009 Forecast: Cyber Crimes

A recent report and conference by Georgia Tech forecasted the up and coming top threats for cybercrimes in 2009.  The Emerging Cyber Threats Report for 2009, outlined five security concerns and risks for consumer and business  internet users for the coming year.

  1. Malware - specifically under the guise of benign social networking links such as Digg, Propeller, and Twitter.
  2. Botnets - specifically the spread of botnet attacks to wireless & peer-to-peer networks
  3. Cyber Warfare - Hacker attackes including targets on the U.S. economy and infrastructure (China)
  4. Threats to VoIP and Mobile Convergence - specifically voice fraud and cellular botnets
  5. The Evolving Cyber Crime Economy - including the rise of sophisticated “malware-for-sale” kits and programs

According to the report, mining for data will continue to be the number one reason behind future cyber crimes, on traditional and mobile computing networks and applications.  The information age is a great era to live in, but technology doesn’t come with significant risks to privacy and theft.

What’s all the Buzz on the Taser Parties?

Are you looking for a fun way to have a home business while keeping your family protected? Just have some friends over, show them the Taser C2, and let them fire it and make up their own minds. The empowerment they’ll feel when firing it for the first time, sells the Taser C2 every time!

Why is the C2 Air Taser having such overnight success? Just look at what our treasured customers are saying:

It’s unique shape and color is never mistaken for a handgun.
The Taser is not classified as a “firearm” by the government, and therefore not a concealed weapon if carried in a pocket, backpack or purse.
It’s about the size and shape of an electric shaver, and fits easily in a handbag, and is legal to carry in 45 states.
Taser C2s are stylish and fashionable, and don’t look threatening.
It’s a great way to say “I care about you” to a loved one such as a girlfriend that works late, or is away at school.
The daily new shows increased violence on college and high school campuses.
It’s non lethal and police tested.
It gives me a 30 second continual blast, so I can run!
I don’t like guns.
If I miss my target with the projectiles, I can still use it as a contact stun gun.
Should I ever lose my Taser C2 while in the act of protecting myself, Taser will replace it for free.
I have young children in the house and don’t want guns in the house.
So what do you have to do? Have some friends stop by, set out some chips and sodas if you like, and show them the actualTaser C2 and some of the accessories. You can show the informational DVD that comes with the Taser C2 units which covers the theory, features, safe operation, registration, and anti-felon devices of the C2 Air Taser. Then it’s time to fire the Taser!

You or someone you select, can aim the Taser across the room, see the flashlight and laser sighting and shoot it into the metallic practice target provided in your kit. When you deliver the shock, the little target man sparks, and flashes. People start whooping and everyone jumps in line to deliver a jolt to the “would be” attacker. The excitement is always followed by, “WOW!! I have got to get one of these!” Then start taking orders! Have fun and make money, and keep your family safe! Start you business today! Easy Setup Nanny Cams: Part 2

So what do I need to set up my nanny cam?

Ok, so you’ve read part 1 of “The Real Scoop on Nanny Cams” article and youyknow there are tons of choices for hidden and disguised cams available, that will naturally match your decor and needs.    Is that all you need?  The short answer is maybe!

It depends what you want to do, but here are the 2 BEST ways.   There are some cameras that have a little memory card in them, and you simply watch the video on your computer at a later time.  Most spycams have motion detection, and can save you from hours of watching an empty room!  These totally self contained “Secureshot” brand nannycams also have jacks on them so you can simply plug it into your TV or monitor and watch it that way if you prefer.

For a more sophistocated method, you may choose to record and watch it live thru the internet.  Smart Life Store has these cool easy setup kits, that wirelessly transmit to a receiver, that plugs into the USB port of your PC computer.   One receiver can handle up to six different cams so you can watch the whole house!  Watch and record from work, or even watch on your cell phone.   It can even send you an email or text message when a “zone” is activated my motion detection.

Easy Setup Nanny Cams: Part 1

Expecting a baby soon?  Have a new sitter?  Are the employees doing their job while your away?  Are shoplifters stealing you blind?  No matter what the reason is, we all have a need to find out what’s going on when we aren’t around to see for ourselves. There are many choices out there for nannycams and various levels of quality, clarity, and disguise.    After all, the most important thing about surveillance is to get a time stamped, quality video, from a well hidden camera.  You can’t expect bad behavior if the subject knows he’s being filmed.

So how do we disguise a spy cam or nannycam?  The good thing is that many spycam manufacturers have already done it for you.  Hidden cameras are cleverly built into working appliances such as radios, countertop can openers, computer speakers and more.   You can purchase spycams built into table lamps, teddy bears, clock radios, even wall clocks and oscillating fans.

Whichever disguise you choose, you can either save the video for later, or watch it live overt the internet.   More details in Part 2 of this series. . . . .  tomorrow!  Find out more at www.smartlifestore.com

Big Flush Toilet!

Happy Holidays Friends!   The Christmas season is upon at us at last, and everyone is making plans for family feasts, presents and winter vacations.  I gotta say though, this has been one strange week!  Kind of surreal.  We’re surfing for deals on the internet and checking for Black Friday deals, while Mumbai is burning down with terrorists specifically targeting Westerners/Americans.   It just goes to show, sometimes were not truly “on-guard” even in this climate of hate.  For those of you that follow protectiontalk.com, you know we strive to help you become more aware of the things that can hurt you and your loved ones, and how to protect yourself.

Today I was reviewing an article we published a few weeks ago called What will we do if Obama Takes Away All of Our Handguns? It got me to thinking about how helpless we really are in maintaining our rights, even in a democratic society where we have a constitutional right to bear arms. It got me thinking about my friend David McKee and his writings, which I’d like to introduce you to.

David authors and publishes a website call Big Flush Toilet, inspired by the continued erosion of our autonomy as human beings and citizens of the United States, by the ever grinding machine of big government.  The name Big Flush Toilet comes from the ridiculous fallout from the all encompassing Energy Policy Act of 1992 in which we were told that our toilets could only use 1.6 gallons per toilet flush!  How much water I can use to flush my toilet?  And now, finger wagging beard-scratchers have created an epidemic of control freaks!  Just look at the issues we’ve been fighting in the past year in California alone:

  • They tried to ban Mylar balloons, you know the silvery birthday ones? It failed.
  • They tried to force us to spay and neutering all dogs but it failed
  • They did force us to use hands-free devices for cell phone usage while driving.   (I can live with that, but I’m just saying!)
  • We spent over a million bucks to defeat a “sale of violent video games to minors and warning labels bill (what ever happened to good parenting?)
  • They tried to pass a no spanking your kids bill!  (I called it the “Raise-a-Gansta Bill)
  • Finally they did pass a law to make sure my Kentucky Fried Chicken had enough elbow room while it was still alive, with the Humane Treatment of Farm Animals Bill.
  • And that’s just in California!  Try Googling “(Your State) Failed Bills” and see what comes up!

It’s a matter of knowing what’s going on in our town, the country, and the world, that gives us true situational awareness for protecting our families and finances.  Big Flush Toilet covers many of issues that concern us as Americans everyday.   So stop by David’s site, learn and participate in some of the great discussions!

Gmail Vulnerability!!

Have you received anything that said Gmail was vulnerable to hackers?  Specifically, they are supposed to be able to set up filters in your account, without your knowledge, and hijack your internet domain name.

After all the hoopla, it turn out to be a scam!  Google interviewed those who claimed to be affected by the hack, and determined they had all been victims of a phishing scam (how embarrassing).  Google security engineer writes in his blog:

Attackers sent customized e-mails encouraging Web domain owners to visit fraudulent Web sites such as “google-hosts.com” that they set up purely to harvest usernames and passwords. These fake sites had no affiliation with Google, and the ones we’ve seen are now offline. Once attackers gained the user credentials, they were free to modify the affected accounts as they desired.

So while this was a hoax, Google still reminds us to stay vigilent in looking for, and only signing into secure accounts featuring “https”, as shown here: https://www.google.com/accounts.
